Voting Day for Permatang Pauh by-election

Permatang Pauh Election

Today 26-August is the voting day for the most exciting by-election in Malaysia history- Permatang Pauh where three candidates PKR -Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, BN- Arif Shah Omar Shah and AKIM-Hanafi Hamat compete for the seat.

I will be very excited if I am Permatang Pauh registered voter because this is the most interesting by-election ever in Malaysia.

I feel that the battle between PKR and BN over the past 10 days is much exciting than the badminton final Lee Chong Wei vs Ling Dan at Olympic Beijing 2008.

From the nomination day where Anwar show up like ”the return of the king” in Permatang Pauh with over 10,000 supporters surrounded him to all the tactics BN used over the past 10 days to try to bring him down, such as playing Saiful ”sumpah” (swearing) video that he did sodomised by Anwar all day long in Permatang Pauh, then follow by Najib “sumpah” (swearing) in mosque that he never know Alantuya, also the government is distributing political sweets such as reducing oil price, donation to schools, building public toilet, paying “spy fee” to residents in Permatang Pauh, UMNO puteri is going door by door with “Anak Angkat Project”…etc and how PKR fight back,  I must say this is really entertaining.

I guess there are more interesting stories to come today. With more than 70 crimes incident reported to police over the past 10 days, our home minister Syed Hamid said, this is not an ordinary by-election.

There is also arguement that the voter list is questionable and not valid in law because Election Commission of Malaysia is using an updated voter list compare to the one on March 08. Claimed by PKR-Sivarasa Rasiah, the new list is not publicly exhibited to allow for objections before its final approval and it is not legal under Malaysia law. More than 900 voters has been removed and 800 more added which over 50% of them are postal voters.

Will Anwar win with a landslide victory against BN?

I had a dream yesterday where Anwar won the by-election by a whooping 70% votes. If calculated based on 80% turn out rate in March 08 election, thats about 32,000 votes!
What a dream. :)

Is this realistic?
I have no idea however I have good feeling that Anwar will win with big majority in this election. ;)

Lets see the result tonight.
