Why Teresa Kok Is Still Arrested Under ISA even JIM backed her?

Teresa Kok Arrested under ISA

Malaysia government is getting crazy nowaday by arresting blogger, reporter and opposition party MP as step to retain power.  It is opposition party believe that the rulling government is trying to put the country into emergency situation so that opposition is not able to take over the government even they have enough MPs to declare and form new government.

Why use Internal Security Act against opposition MP that so many evident prove her never done anything wrong? What kind of chaos she has cause to the country? It seems to many Malaysians that our country become chaos and unstable only after the arrest of Teresa Kok. Many are protesting the arrest. Therefore, who is the one should be arrest under ISA?

Jamaah Islah Malaysia (JIM) which is one of the country’s leading Islamic movement just released a statement which not only condemned the use of the Internal Security Act as unislamic, but also reaffirmed the position that Teresa Kok was never involved in the so-called “azan” issues in Kota Damansara and Kinrara mosques.

Pray for justice and peace in our land
posted on Saturday, 13 September 2008 at 7.56pm

The next few days are likely to be filled with uncertainty.

But do not fear. All people of goodwill in this land - sisters and brothers
of the Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Sikh and other spiritual
traditions - need to pray for justice and peace.

Or else just send out positive thoughts and energy for good things to happen
to Malaysia and for evil plans to be thwarted.

Others will be holding vigils for ISA detainees. Check out the current list
of detainees here.

Some places of worship are holding special prayers for peace and justice and
good sense to prevail.

In the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Penang, for instance, a special Mass
will be held on Monday at 8.00pm to pray very specially for truth and
justice to prevail in our beloved country.

Stay Calm
2008-09-13 11:46

No one knows what will happen next week, next month or next year. We can
only keep a clear mind and be rational. Then, we have to review recent
incidents and think about the country’s future.

Most of the people refuse to repeat grief experiences in the past, including
us.

The people have a common expectation, which is to build a harmonious,
progressive and liberal country, so that everyone would have the sense of
belonging and practically march forward.

Therefore, all of us have the responsibility to make demands on those in
power, including the ruling and the opposition parties.

Perhaps, some people are not accustomed to changes and they are not
sensitive enough to environmental changes, social evolutions and public
feelings. The existing system has been ageing and it is hard to cope with
environmental impacts.

Any touch of different forces will cause something to happen. Some thought
severe interventions could solve the problems. But it is not the best
solution and it is as well not the only option.

In fact, there are more ways to ease up or reconcile the situation.

Unobstructed communications, reasonable interpretations, prompt actions and
fair judgements would be the only way to manage a multi-racial society, as
well as a country with the coexistence of various values.

At the same time, authorities have to agree with the changes in the big
environment. Also, they have to gradually rethink in order to resolve
various social contradictions.

Vigil at Bukit Aman stopped by police
By Adib Zalkapli

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 ~ Dozens of media practitioners, human rights
activists and opposition politicians took part in a peaceful candlelight
vigil organised by the Abolish ISA Movement (GMI) near the police
headquarters, here.

NUJ president Norela Daud, PKR youth deputy chief Fariz Musa and GMI
chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh led the protest.

The vigil was held to show solidarity with Selangor executive councillor
Teresa Kok, blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin and journalist Tan Hoon Cheng who
were arrested under the Internal Security Act last evening.

Tan was released this afternoon.

The vigil that started at 8.30pm ended less than 15 minutes later after the
police ordered the crowd to disperse.

When the protestors marched to the nearby car park to disperse, the police
followed them and repeatedly ordered the crowd to disperse and to put out
their candles.

As the protestors were still at the nearby butterfly park, one police
officer told the journalists present to leave the place.

“They are still here because of you, if you leave, they will leave, please,”
said the police officer who refused to comment further on the vigil.

Norela, when met after the vigil, said that she is still upset over Tan’s
arrest although she was happy that the Sin Chew Daily journalist was finally
released.

“We have written to the International Federation of Journalists about the
arrest, I hope the government will be more careful in the future,” she
added.
