1Malaysia TV news? Better use youtube.
I just read newspaper today and found that Malaysia government has just launched “1Malaysia TV”, a new IP tv service where you can watch using tablet pc like iphone, android.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said 1Malaysia TV would allow the government to disseminate accurate information and news to the public in “real-time”.
“With today’s technology, the public is able to receive news and information in the blink of an eye. Sometimes, even before a meeting ends, people already receive the news,” said Najib, during the TV’s launch at Putra World Trade Centre yesterday.
After reading the news, I went to the 1Malaysiaiptv website http://www.1malaysiaiptv.com.my/ to check out but disappointed. :(
Here are some screen capture of the errors i got when i try to access the website:
Then I try the mobile TV channels, error again:
Since I am using google Chrome, I try to use IE to see if i can view the channel but it turn out worst.
Thanks for the ‘real time’ info but no thanks. I suggest 1Malaysiatv to use youtube instead?
Why spend money to setup IP TV to deliver the “right” message where youtube is FREE and can do better job in ‘real time’ ?
Perhaps it is because Malaysia government does not owned youtube and it is too “FREE” until government cannot control or filter any video uploaded there?
I had enough of TV3 or other government control medias to tell me what “good things” government did but swipe all the hot topic like “the RM150 billion said to have flowed illicitly out of Malaysia in 2009″, NFC issues…etc under the carpet.
The government still do not get it, we want freedom in news, not restricted, cover-up, censored news that bias toward government.
I like the idea of watching TV1, TV2, TV3 using my ipad for entertainment, sports, news but prefer government to spend money on getting rid of tolls, reduce petrol price and overall reduce the cost of living in Malaysia instead of 1Malaysiatv.
Here are some of the comments from 1malaysiatv facbook page about the 1Malaysiatv service outage:
Just in case you want to know, 1Malaysia TV is run by 1Media IPTV Sdn Bhd and National Film Development Corporation chairman Datuk Afendi Hamdan, is the ad- viser.
Update on 21-12-2012:
I can access 1MalaysiaTV today now at http://www.1malaysiaiptv.com.my/, watching one of the show called “Sembang Cyber” on topic about “budaya blog“. Streaming is smooth today using UNIFI, tested later with android phone.
1Malaysiatv Android Apps Download
You can download the android apps for 1Malaysiatv when you access http://wwww.1malaysiaiptv.com.my from you android phone but be careful as there is Android phone user report 1Malaysiatv android apps crashed their phone.
I have no problem installing 1Malaysiatv Android apps on my phone, I am using android 2.3.3 version. However I can watch TV2, TV3 but not 1Malaysiatv channel so far. There is also no subtitles.
One thing I feel strange on the 1MalaysiaTV apps is- there is a E-Korea channel???
What does a korea channel have to do with 1MalaysiaTV but not Chinese or Tamil channel?
Anyway, under Erama.tv mobile TV website , there are many channels available, which is TV1, TV2, TV3, TV Alhijah, 1MalaysiaTV, CCTV News (English), E-Korea (Korean), ERAMA TV (coming soon.Malay), Documentary TV (Malay), KL POP Radio (Malay), TV 9 (coming soon), Bernama (coming soon), U Mobile TV (coming soon), KBS World TV (coming soon), AL Arabiya (coming soon), NHK World (coming soon), CCTV4 (coming soon.Chinese International), TV SKM (coming soon), Hasil TV (coming soon), Tamil TV (coming soon), Klassik TV (coming soon), Karaoke TV (coming soon), Your TV (coming soon), CCTV2 (coming soon) and finally CCTV9 (coming soon.docomentary) .
